OPEN CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR STUDIOS FROM JULY 2009 TO JUNE 2012
DEADLINE: 28 February, 2009In a building adjacent to the exhibition spaces, the DARLING FOUNDRY opened 15 studios in 2006, including several live-in spaces. Located on a three-floor former warehouse that has been renovated while preserving the original wood and brickwork, the studios are harmonious, bright and inspiring. Ten of these studios are reserved exclusively for the professional development of visual artists.
A technician-supervised workshop offers a variety of production and finishing possibilities, wood and metal working equipment. Tools and materiel are also made available to the artists. Other shared amenities include a kitchen, dining area, bathroom, showers and a terrace. The studios are rented out at a modest price for three-year terms.
Mindful of developing the professional potential of artists and demonstrating current artistic practices to the public, the Darling Foundry regularly organises visits from professionals within the industry, educational activities and various public awareness initiatives.
Cost
$300/month + $30/month for use of the workshop.Contribution

Applications should include:
Candidates are evaluated by a committee that takes into account the quality of their work and the potential impact of a residency on the candidate’s career. Artists are selected based upon their suitability for an exhibition at the DARLING FOUNDRY. Considerations for selection also include equitable representation in terms of artistic media, region of origin, and gender.
