Thibaut Boyer

Thibaut Boyer is a French artist who benefited from a three-month residency in Montreal in the setting of the French-Québécois exchange program put in place by Usines Éphémères in Paris, and Quartier Éphémère in Montreal. On this occasion, he presents the work created during his stay.

“In this last series of portraits a new step is presented to us by Thibaut Boyer. The subjects that are seized upon full of life and worked over in a sharp analysis of known reality effectively disclose the hazards of travel and of disorientation. Lison, Gerda, Mathieu, Louis, Carl or even the pouting comedian, and all the others, are not the simple traces of a vacation in an unknown land during which the spirit of curiosity and discovery are found exacerbated by instant forgetfulness of the everyday. They are instead, the witnesses and the actors of the artist’s experience.”
