"Cyclopes"
"Judas II"A Fine Arts graduate from The University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM), her work has been awarded many prizes, most notably the prize for best video installation in 1995. Her exhibition at Quartier Éphémère is based on the symmetrical arrangement of the body. Here she presents a video and sound piece constructed using an assemblage method.
My artistic work consists of revisiting the symmetry of the body. I search along symmetrical terms (left-right, interior-exterior, the viewer-the seen) for a limit to name in an identical sense. This limit is as much a multiplicity as an abyss that situated between the two opposing binaries. The search for these spaces, to see the emptiness between dichotomies, allows us to question the normative binary thought. My video and sound work is constructed using an assemblage method (addition and association) and the body in order to produce an oscillation between a grafted body and an amputated one.
