OPEN CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR PLAN LARGE

DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 28, 2009

The Darling Foundry and Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal have united to launch the fifth edition of PLAN LARGE and are now looking for new photographic work for this project. PLAN LARGE aims to improve the urban environment through the presence of art. By reinvesting abandoned billboards, these former advertising panels are transformed into supports for gigantic photographic works. By exploring off the beaten track of contemporary art urban spaces, the Darling Foundry opens up to a new public. This great challenge is honored by the poetry provided by artists and their works as they infiltrate the everyday life and modify the social dynamics and perception of our daily environment.

Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal is a major international biennale that investigates issues relating to contemporary photography. Bringing together artists, curators and other image specialists, the biennale creates a unique and exciting opportunity to study the transformations of the image in contemporary culture. Under the theme "Spaces of the Image", the 11th edition of Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal will explore the questions of mechanisms and staging, perceived as essential keys to reading the different photographic projects presented in recent years.

Applications are evaluated by a committee based on the quality of the work and the potential impact of this project on the candidate’s career. Selection also takes into account equitable representation in terms of artistic media, region of origin, and gender.

Applications should include:
- Identification form to be downloaded in Word or PDF
- A letter of intentions describing the project submitted for Plan Large
